Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.

WHAT I DO

I help students reach their potential in the classroom or on standardized tests through focused instruction and organizational skills.

WHY I DO IT

Because I LOVE it!  My favorite part of being in academia is working with students and seeing them thrive.  Whether teaching courses, tutoring, or mentoring undergraduates for thesis projects; engaging young minds is incredibly rewarding.

Education Background

  • B.S. Mathematics, University of Louisiana, Lafayette, LA
  • B.S. Physics, University of Louisiana, Lafayette, LA
  • M.S. Paleoclimatology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA
  • Ph.D. Geochemistry, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA

I began tutoring....

... by helping other students in my high school classes. In college, I worked as a private math and physics tutor with the University of Louisiana's Physics department . I was then hired by the ULL Athletic Department to help fellow student athletes maintain high GPA's and academic eligibility.  I managed to do this while also competing for the ULL track and cross country teams as a full scholarship Division 1 athlete. It taught me invaluable time management and organizational skills.

In graduate school I taught undergraduate courses in 'Weather and Climate' and 'The Habitable Planet' in a classroom setting. In 2008 I took a position with the tutoring company 'Atlanta Tutors' where I worked one-on-one with High school and College students preparing students for exams, helping with homework, and lots of SAT, ACT, and GRE math test preparation. Since then I have logged over 5,000+ hours assisting young students in science and math. I balanced my school and work life, with a highly competitive athletic career that continues today.

In 2013, I moved to the beautiful state of Colorado and now call Boulder home. Since this geographical change I have worked with 100's of Colorado High School and College Students. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging math problems. I like to apply math to real world situations to allow my students to fully understand the relevance and necessity of knowing and using math in their everyday lives.

My high school, college, and graduate experiences make me exceptionally qualified to help you or your student get organized and manage time effectively, while excelling academically.

Denise Farley attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  She then went on to take Primary Education Master Level classes at the University of Virginia’s Northern Virginia campus.  After living abroad and studying Spanish she became interested in teaching elementary school students. She was a second grade teacher at St. Ignatius Elementary School in Maryland.  As she wanted to pursue her interest in teaching Spanish, she then began a long-term substitute position at Key Elementary Spanish Immersion School in Arlington, Virginia.  This gave her the opportunity to be well known in the teaching community so she took on other substitute teaching positions in Middle Schools, teaching English and Science.  She understands that students have different methods of learning and can quickly identify the various needs of individual students.  Denise is results oriented and dedicated to the success of each student in the academic setting.  She also was a coach for a High School Cross Country team and she is committed to being a mentor and enjoys the one on one teaching that take place through tutoring.

Robby Chalfant

Hi, my name is Robby Chalfant. I’ve always had interest and knack for fundamental math. I remember my father sitting with me and teaching me multiplication tables in 1st grade. He inspired me to practice and thrive at a young age. However it wasn’t until my late teenage years when my love for working with young adults and students came to light. It began when my younger brother struggled with math in middle school and throughout high school. We were 8 years apart, but I would come home from college during the summer to help him with remedial classes. I called and got permission from the school to actually go with him onsite and sit next to him while we worked through the problems together.

Years later I got to see another side of working with students by coaching cross country with my good friend and past teammate. He was the head coach for our old high school. He said “the kids would love to have you and they want to break your records!” I joined the coaching staff and instantly felt happiness rush to my heart. That's when I truly realized the influence that coaches, teachers, and tutors can have on students. I coached for 2 years with Jerid until I became a business owner. I’m happy to say that I still stay in contact with some of those students as they’ve become successful adults.

While running my business, I went on to further that connection by speaking at local high schools on entrepreneurship and marketing. I also worked with the local private college to bring in co-ops and give them hands on training with running a business. Students at all ages need role models. I’m thankful that I’ve had the chance to work with them and have seen the many benefits that come from one-on-one teaching. I hope to continue building those relationships with Loogle Learning students.

Thank you for the opportunity and look forward to learning together!
